Local residents such as , and can breathe a sigh of relief now that a 35-year-old man was arrested Wednesday on charges that he hacked into private emails, according to police.
He could face a maximum penalty of 121 years in federal prison.
Christopher Chaney of Jacksonville, Fla., was arrested by the Los Angeles FBI office as part of “Operation Hackerazzi” which involves computer intrusions on people involved in the entertainment industry.
According to officials, the emails were on a public list, and he figured out the emails to the stars and then figured out passwords or answered online questions to get into their accounts.
Accounts that were hacked came from Yahoo, Apple and Google from last November and December.
A federal grand jury in Los Angeles handed down the indictment Tuesday in Los Angeles.
Chaney’s hacker names include "trainreqsuckswhat," "anonygrrl" and "jaxjaguars911."
The story broke when Scarlett Johansson supposedly went to the FBI after private nude photos were hacked from her cellphone.
Supposedly, four photos were taken of Timberlake by his Friends With Benefits co-star Kunis. One shows Timberlake shirtless in bed and another reportedly has him putting a pair of pink panties over his head. Kunis is not in any of the photos. More than 50 celebrities are possible victims of aggressive hackers.
The FBI will not confirm who else was hacked, or who they are investigating, nor will they name any specific celebrities involved. In the recent past, other Studio City residents such as and Toluca Lake’s have been targeted.
Others who came forward as being hacked are Ali Larter, , Emma Caulfield, and Renee Olstead.
