Man Pleads 'Not Guilty' to Killing of Estranged Girlfriend
The ex-girlfriend's body was found in Studio City's Weddington Park.
A man charged with the death of a 32-year-old woman whose body was found in South Weddington Park in Studio City on March 20, pleaded not guilty to the charges and is being held on $1 million bail.
Stephen Joanou Jr., 26, is charged with the stabbing death of Patrina Sabella, who was found by a homeless man in the park at about 2:20 a.m. at the on the 10600 block of Valleyheart Drive, police said.
The suspect has prior drug and theft convictions, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney's office. He is scheduled to appear June 5 in a Los Angeles County Superior Courtroom in Van Nuys.
