A small earthquake lasting about 10 seconds shook up some people in Studio City Tuesday night.
It happened about 11:23 p.m.
City News Service reported: A magnitude 4.4 earthquake struck two miles north- northeast of Yorba Linda, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
The earthquake was felt from Long Beach to West Los Angeles to downtown Los Angeles.
A series of small aftershocks have registered from between 1.2 and 2.7—eight more within an hour.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the initial temblor struck at 11:23 p.m. at a depth of 5.1 miles. Smaller aftershocks trailed, including some magnitudes 1.4 and 1.2.
The quick jolts were felt through the region, but there were no immediate reports of injuries or major damage.
All Los Angeles Fire Department resources went into emergency earthquake mode, which included checking school buildings, power lines and bridges to ensure public safety.
The tweet from Steve at in Studio City was: "um did we just have an earthquake..?"
Local resident Leanne Royo wrote: "Was that like a 10 second earthquake or was I imagining sh??..."
Natalie Eshaya known as "Negative Natalie" was a bit more direct, saying, "EARTHQUAKE!!! F--- that!!!!!!!!!"
And, Eric Stephen wrote that he "Felt at Dodger Stadium too RT: EARTHQUAKE"
No reports of injuries or damage was reported.
