Marie Brown was shocked Tuesday night when she saw the flyers on the streetlights and utility poles on Whitsett Avenue between Moorpark Street and Ventura Boulevard.
The flyers had phrases such as "We're taking back America from the Mexicans, who should die."
There was one posted in front of the , located at 4041 Whitsett Ave. and the rest were pasted on other light standards and utility poles further north on Whitsett Avenue, all on the west side of the street.
Brown said, "Some of the other flyers contained anti-Semitic slogans. While I am neither Mexican nor Jewish, I was shocked and highly disturbed by the presence of these violently racist flyers here in Studio City."
There were no signatures, phone numbers or groups listed, and Brown said she tore them up and didn't save them.
"Due to my anger, disgust, and fear, I tore up these flyers and threw them out in the trash," she said. "I realize I should have hung onto these papers so the police could analyze them, but they were very shocking and scary to read."
She told John Walker, president of the Studio City Neighborhood Council, who said he would contact Geoffrey Yazzetta at Councilman Paul Krekorian's office. The police were also contacted.
