What's the Smoke? Major House Fire Burns Over the Hill in Beverly Park

Residents in the Studio City hills may be smelling big fire over the hill.

A fire is burning in a two-story mansion in the gated Beverly Park
community, says Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

There is a heavy smoke smell throughout the Studio City hills, and a number of people have called Studio City Patch about it, but there is no reported fire in the area. However, there is a large house fire just over the hill on the Beverly Hills side of the Hollywood Hills.

Richard Adams, safety committee chairman of the Studio City Neighborhood Council, said, "There is the smell of smoke all around and I've seen a few firetrucks going up Coldwater. Something seems to be going on."

According to live LAFD radio feeds, there are firefighters in the attic of the house and the fire is in the roof and coming from one of the chimneys that spread to the roof. One Beverly Hills firefighter was slightly injured and taken away according to the live audio reports.

The fire was reported at 6:30 p.m. at 50 Beverly Park Way, said Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

In a recent update at 8 p.m., the house was knocked down and is under control in just over an hour with more than 120 local firefighters reporting, according to Scott.

Arriving firefighters reported moderate smoke coming from the roof of the mansion, Scott said, but by 7 p.m. the fire was beginning to burn through the roof and additional firefighters were requested.

It was unknown what sparked the blaze.
