Irene DeBlasio Writes to Redistricting Commission—'Thank You'

Here is a Letter to the Commission that the longtime Studio City resident wanted to share with Studio City.

Dear Commissioners,

You probably don't receive many kudos or shows of appreciationin your line of work, but I feel compelled to share my gratitude.

It is with a great sense of relief that I congratulate you for a job well done. I'm beginning to feel that you are actually paying attention to the needsand wants of your constituents.  BRAVI.

The fact that you have redistricted Studio City (98.4% of it) into CD2 has given us renewed faith that our representatives are trying to serve the will of the people. I understand the final vote came down to 20 to 1 in our favor.

Blessings and Hugs to the 20 who voted in favor of our reunification. To the '1' who voted against -- nice try!nah nah nah nah nah nah...

Respectfully yours,

Irene DeBlasio (Studio City - YAY!)

I understand that you testified before the committee Wednesday night. Thanks to you and all the others who are owed a debt of gratitude by Studio City residents and businesses for bringing our representation back under one district. The above letter is a nice touch.

Well some of us went there and didn't get up in those lofty chambers to testify, but we sat there with our arms crossed and scowled (as in one of the shots that the Patch ed took) and leant our support and applauded and whooped-de-dooed when folk like Irene went up there. I think they got our message.

Miki, Lisa Sarkin went with 20 boxes the committee may have ignored but they eventually voted in our favor. They kept a few pieces of our heart but in general, we came out of this episode a success. Mike, Lisa, Mr. Walker, SCNC, et al did a masterful job and support for our goals was spectacular. VIVA CD2.
