Of the Park Motel . . .

Dear Lisa,

I have lived in Studio City for eight years and for all that time the on Ventura Boulevard near Coldwater has been closed...never any cars in the lot... Is there a story behind that property?  It seems to be pretty well maintained just empty...just curious.

Thanks,  Michael Hirshenson

Michael - thank you for your question.  I have attempted to contact the owner of the Park Motel without success.  I will continue to try and get some information about it and let you know what I find out.

Of the Marijuana Dispensaries . . .

Many of you have asked about the number of marijuana dispensaries in Studio City so I have waited as long as I can to be able to give you the most up-to-date information available.  Currently, I know of nine dispensaries on Ventura Boulevard.  I have not found any other dispensaries in Studio City to date. The dispensary ordinance passed last year is on hold because of numerous lawsuits.

According to the most recent list from the City Clerk’s office, the following locations are in the process of obtaining a “MEDICAL MARIJUANA NOTICE OF INTENTION TO REGISTER FILINGS:”

* , Inc.        11705 Ventura Blvd., Studio City, CA 91604
*            12012 1/2 Ventura Blvd., Studio City, CA 91604
*                  10964 Ventura Blvd., Studio City, CA 91604
*               13235 Ventura Blvd., Studio City, CA 91604
*             12457 Ventura Blvd., Suite 208, Studio City, CA 91604

Of a Good, Lunch . . .

Where can you get the most affordable lunch in Studio City?

This is a very difficult question to answer but I think is good and affordable.

Of the RFA Issue . . .

What is going on with the RFA issue, has that just disappeared from the consciousness of Paul Krekorian?—J. Donnelly

The RFA (Residential Floor Area) is on the agenda of the
August 17,  CBS Studio Center, 4024 Radford Ave. Building 8, MPR 3, 7 p.m.  If you are able to attend you will hear a presentation by Councilmember Krekorian’s Planning Director, Karo Torossian.

the Park Motel is alive and well, if very quiet these days, which, for local residents is an improvement from years earlier when the LAPD was a frequent guest, as it were. they do a quiet trade these days, and occasionally host a location shoot, or provide parking for the neighboring addresses that draw the crews again and again and again.... as for "Henry's Tacos" , they are both nasty and over priced. calling their product a "taco" is like calling Taco Bell "haute cuisine". finding an "affordable lunch" in Studio City is like finding an honest politician, a good lawyer or a modest actor.... it's all in the definition. until then your best bet is Mc Awful's @ Radford and Ventura in the Trader Joe's shopping center. IMHO/YMMV.

How this place is still open is beyond me. It's a disgusting excuse for prison, let alone Motel. As a neighbor for near a decade, I've witnessed people having sex in vehicles in the parking lot, illegal film crews (including porn...) drunks yelling in the parking lot @ 4 AM, fights, and other "special events" that have sealed the Motel's reputation as a place to film "seedy scenes", or grab a prostitute and some drugs, and have at it. As a bonus, the owner bangs a gardening tool into the cracks of the parking lot from dark to 10 PM or whenever we yell at him to stop, keeping neighbors awake with the constant TINK of him busily accomplishing...nothing. (If he spent that time painting, or say doing laundry (something we DON'T see them do) the place would look like the Cheteau Marmont). This establishment is truly the scourge of Ventura Blvd, and an embarrassment to the city. With the Days Inn literally steps from this rotting, infested, Black Hole of Property Values, I can't understand why anyone would risk their health staying here, or support the slumlords who own the place.

Not only is the Park Motel gross, but so is the Days Inn...I have been in SC for 30 yrs and I don't think they ever remodeled either place. Its time for some cleaning up.
John August 16, 2011 at 05:50 PM
Actually, I've been in the Day's Inn and walk by it weekly- It's the Four Seasons compared to the Park (Check the Pics of the Park on the link- those pictures actually make it look nicer than it actually is.) It's clean, and seems better maintained than the Sporto Lodge.... How do you post Pics here??
Marlene Kamin August 16, 2011 at 09:34 PM
Ha ha John..you are right about the comparison, although they both need to be torn down. . What is the status of Ralphs on Ventura and Coldwater ? It's my favorite market...(great employees) and am looking forward to seeing the remodel start and finish !

The Park Motel is a disgusting place...I have never seen anything like it...we paid then saw the room then demanded our money back..After i threatened her with a call to the city she gave it back......
John October 15, 2012 at 01:40 PM
Oddly, it's listed as "Closed", (On YELP, and all other on-line references) although the endless parade of drifters ,prostitutes, Russian mobsters, lunch hookups, including a grandma who scores drugs from someone in a van. See pics....and the City can't close this place why?? And, what exactly does it take to get the LAPD to show, anyway??
shaunda October 15, 2012 at 02:52 PM
John I dont know on another site i posted the pics that i took..It made my stomach turn as to what I saw.The Park Motel..is open for business...but should be torn down
