Redistricting Meeting Has Strong Studio City Showing

Neighborhood Council members and others in the community have shown up to try to keep Studio City in one district.

About a dozen community members in white shirts showed up to show solidarity with Studio City at the Los Angeles City Hall where the final maps for the redistricting of the city will be decided.

Studio City Neighborhood Council president John Walker along with vice president Lisa Sarkin and board members Ron Taylor and Lana Shackelford are in chambers along with Joe and Mildred Higgins, and others.

Council chambers are full and the first part of the meeting included announcements by Tom LaBonge, where he presented awards to local Irish Americans who have done things for the community.

Among the honorees were local father and actor Johnny O'Callaghan and his son Odin, whom he adopted from Uganda. O'Callaghan wrote the play" about his struggles to adopt his son.

"It's a crazy time, this is great," said O'Callaghan just before marching into chambers preceded by bagpipers wearing kilts.
