If Council member Koretz lived next to a pot shop he would understand why residents and neighboring businesses don't want them operating in their neighborhoods. There are a lot of arguments for keeping the pot shops open like they will generate more in taxes or patients need pot to build their appetite and relieve their pain. The same could be said of liquor stores and yet they are regulated as to where they can operate and under what conditions. The shops are not supposed to be open to the public and they are not supposed to take cash for pot. That is state law. Mr. Koretz needs to formulate a strategy for keeping the facilities open so they comply with state law. He was in the legislature and is well acquainted with the law concerning pot shops.
