What's With the CVS and The Latest on Redistricting

Community activist Lisa Sarkin answers your questions.

Dear Lisa,

The other day I walked by this drugstore and noticed that it is a blight to this corner of Studio City. It needs paint on the outside and it needs some nice greenery in boxes like they said they would do when they moved in. Do you know what their plans are for this store? Can you put pressure on them to fix up this store and take pride in being in Studio City?

Yes and Yes…currently CVS is applying for the permits to update and improve the façade of the store at Laurel Canyon and Ventura Boulevard. I agree is it sorely in need of it. I hope the work will be able to begin soon.

How is the redistricting going?

Just last week, issued by the City of Los Angeles Redistricting Commission.  Many communities are not happy with the results, but Studio City fared very well.

The current map, which will be tweaked in the weeks to come, has all of Studio City in one council district, CD2.  You may look at the maps by going to this link: REDRAWLA Draft Map.

Valley Spring Lane between Babcock and Bellaire (along the northern border of Weddington Golf & Tennis) has become a late night hangout with used condoms, liquor bottles and needles strewn about the area. What, if anything, is being done to address this problem in the midst of a quiet residential neighborhood? Many of the neighbors don't like to walk along this stretch because of the messes leftover from evening "activities" and safety concerns.
