How Does Your Garden Grow?

A school's edible garden yields its first crops.

Every class in Valley View Elementary School participated in growing their own crop over the past year.

One class planted seven different kinds of strawberries, one class grew everything that could go on a pizza, one class grew plants and wrote poems about them.

The garden was in part funded by a Lowe's grant, the California Institute of Contemporary Arts and the school PTA.

See the video of Tara Kolla of Silverlake Farms, who worked closely with parent Terry Maloy to put the garden in at the school. Here is a story about Tara by the Los Angeles Timeshttp://articles.latimes.com/2012/nov/21/opinion/la-oe-1121-morrison-kolle-20121116
