School Library Gets Transformed Into Magical Reading Room

It's the annual Book Fair at Valley View Elementary School (located in the Cahuenga Pass), and this tiny LAUSD public school pays for a lot of their 10,000 books in the library from this week-long event.

This week, the library has transformed into a magical bazaar, with carpets, canopies and giant stuffed animals (some dressed up) so the children can peruse books they want to order, and books they hope the library will purchase.

"Adventure Time is big, and the LEGO books are alway popular," said librarian Carole Cain, but there are more serious books on history, and President Obama, as well as popular children's books. "The Taylor Swift autobiography went really fast, and I'm surprised that the One Direction posters haven't sold very well."

What? One Direction is history? Certainly Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber are.

Parents pitched the indoor tents and draped the room with fabric and the students created their wish-lists for their parents, and the teachers asked for specific books for their classrooms.

The general public can participate in buying books for the school, or by going to the school's  website  or fill out the form here. info@valleyviewelementary.org * www.valleyviewelementary.org
