Parents are busily unpacking huge crates and turning the school library into a book store for the next week at Valley View Elementary School.
The 10th annual Scholastic Book Fair is a fundraiser to get money for books to store in the library, and allow the school to expand the selection of books. It's a good way to find a good book, too—and it's open to the public.
Heide Margolis, who has run the book sale for the seventh year in a row (and the last year), is running the sale with school librarian Carole Cain.
"It's an opportunity to inspire out children's love of books and giving," Margolis said. "This year we would like to sponsor Children's Hospital as our 'One for the Books' charity in addition to fulfilling teacher's wish lists. A box will be placed in the office for the 'One for the Books' donations during the fair."
The book fair will run during school time through Oct. 3. It will open at 2:30 on Friday, Sept. 28 at 6 p.m. on the night of Pajama-rama where there will be readings in the auditorium, and pizza served with cocoa and cookies.
