Make Your Fantasy A Reality

Are you cognizant to the extent you can see in your mind's eye precisely what your consummate paramour would look like, act like, speak like, move like, and think like?

Are you attentive enough to spot someone who might tickle your fancy or is your head in the clouds, hence, you wouldn’t notice the man/woman of your dreams if they were smack dab in front of you?

What’s your foremost desire? Is it lying and snuggling with your soulmate by the fireplace, dancing under the moonlight, romancing beneath the Eiffel Tower, cuddling and spooning for hours on end, having mad passionate sex in the afternoon on a luxurious bed in a four star hotel, running naked through a field of daisies, skinny dipping in the Mediterranean?

Ponder your precise vision vis a vis an intimate relationship. Contemplate what you covet in an optimum partner. What qualities are you searching for? If you can imagine, it can materialize.

Write down a list of essential traits. Do you value honesty, integrity, compassion, fidelity, humor, intelligence, reliability? Are you looking for an amour with a sweet, gentle, mellow personality or a dynamic, vivacious, gregarious one?

Is emotional and spiritual fitness important? What about physical attributes, health, and financial stability? Consider logistics, parenting obligations, career commitments.

Post fundamental requirements on your bathroom mirror and read them daily. Then believe in your innermost psyche you deserve the best and you’ll receive accordingly. What used to be a mere mirage may sooner than later become an actuality.

Speaking of fantasy versus reality, you’re invited to sustain the Halloween spirit of surprise and shock by attending DELUSION, Masque of Mortality, a frightful, delightfully fun, freaky evening of entertainment, brought to you by The Original Interactive Horror Theatre Company.

If you’ve always yearned to be cast as the lead in a horror story, this is your chance. You can become the protagonist or simply sit back as an observer and enjoy the ride. In either case, it’s your stage, your thriller, your whodunit.

Whether you’re outgoing and assertive, or reserved and timid, you’ll depart on an awesome adventure, unlike anything you’ve ever encountered before, returning exhilarated, beaming from head to toe.

If suspense and crime are up your alley, this is your cup of tea. If you relish a good murder mystery and searching for clues, you’ll feel right at home. You can volunteer to play a patient on a gurney, a repentant sinner attempting to avoid the guillotine, a scary scientist trying to solve a puzzle.

There’s an unknown element at every turn and you have the opportunity to help decipher secret codes, symbols, signs. How good is your sixth sense, your insight? Do you trust your hunches, premonitions? Here’s the perfect occasion to hone your skills of perception and follow your intuition.

Written, directed, and produced by Jon Braver, pro stuntman and stunt coordinator, who has worked on A-list movies The Dark Knight Rises, Star Trek, Iron Man, this unique, innovative presentation, is a prime example of a brilliant individual’s fantasy becoming a reality.

In its third incarnation, DELUSION is currently selling out and has been extended, due to popular demand, until November 23rd.  Join this stimulating event with other excited, cheerful, and friendly folks at The Bethany Presbyterian Church (which adds to the intrigue), 1629 Griffith Park Blvd., Silverlake, 90026.

DELUSION allows you to become involved, as you’re guided through eerie, ghostly, ghastly halls, rooms, and closets, surrounded by amazing special effects and an energetic, enthusiastic, and incredibly versatile ensemble of actors.

Jon puts an “enormous amount of trust” in his participants. “They must perform certain functions to move the story forward.  If they do not, it can change the experience greatly.” Because there are countless “gamers” out there, according to Jon, it makes “this imaginative group our ideal audience.”

Last year, Neil Patrick Harris signed on as a producer.  Braver describes working with Harris as “so damn cool,” and calls him a “real talent and genuinely wonderful person.”

Jon quotes Neil as often expressing “This is your baby, I don’t want to screw it up for you.”  He’s grateful Neil has “helped make DELUSION better by his ideas and promotion.” Braver identifies Harris as a “lifelong DELUSION family member,” and states that everyone adores him and appreciates “his passion for what we do.”

Braver reveals, “The reaction over the last three years has been mind blowing.” The Original Interactive Horror Theatre Company is the first to experiment with this type of horror/suspense theatre. Jon is hoping to take DELUSION on the road and continue “to pave the way!”

The concept for DELUSION came about from a combination of Braver’s deep affection for Autumn and the Halloween season; disillusionment with haunted houses from a very early age; and a plan in 1996 to make a "moving play," inviting his neighbors over to become characters in a “living breathing world of suspense and horror.”

Jon’s influences include video games such as Baldur’s Gate and King’s Quest and films The Shining, Aliens, and The Omen; plus trying to turn the stunt aspect of his extensive cinema work into a live action, first person adventure.

Braver is sincerely in this “for the love” and clearly gives it his all. He’s honored to have attracted a loyal and avid fan base, looking forward to meeting admirers before and after each show.

Jon takes pleasure in directing his talented troupe and is inspired watching them embrace their roles over time. He welcomes incorporating their concepts, thus, “giving them more ownership” in the opus “they’ve helped create.”
