North Hollywood High Ties for 8th at National Science Bowl

The school has won the regional Los Angeles Science Bowl competition every year except one since 1998.

North Hollywood High students finished eighth at the National Science Bowl in Washington, D.C. this weekend.

the regional Los Angeles Department of Water and Power's annual Science Bowl competition every year except one since 1998. This year, the team beat out 69 other schools in the regional competition in February, going on to compete at the national level.

When North Hollywood went on to the U.S. Department of Energy National Science Bowl last year, the team place third.

This year's group was made up coach Altair Maine and team captain Harry Levine, Jennie Zheng, Rain Tsong, Daniel Bork and Khatcher Margossian. They competed against some 100 teams from 44 states.

The National Science Bowl is an academic science competition for high school and middle school students who show their knowledge in a question-and-answer format similar to the TV game show Jeopardy. The competing teams are made up of four students and one alternate with a teacher who serves as a coach.

I'm so thrilled to see North Hollywood High School getting these awards.. LAUSD can DO IT! and look at the scores for Toluca Lake Elementary.. finally above 800.... Kudos teachers and students!
