North Hollywood Loses in Baseball Championship at Dodger Stadium

The Huskies fall 2-0 to Wilson of L.A. in the City Section D2 final.

Great season, tough ending.

That’s what happened to North Hollywood High on Saturday in the City Section Division II baseball championship, as the Huskies lost 2-0 to Wilson of L.A.

“It was just a great feeling to end your career at Dodger Stadium,” shortstop Jonathan Linares said. “It’s a career highlight.”

North Hollywood managed a total of two hits off Wilson right-hander Andrew Urbina, who pitched a complete game and struck out three while not allowing a runner past second.

The Huskies had their best chance in the sixth inning when Andrew Marmor got aboard on an error, followed by a bunt single by Diego Cabral to put runners on first and second with none out. But a failed bunt, followed by a flyout and an inning-ending strikeout left North Hollywood scoreless.

North Hollywood freshman Eddie Torres pitched 6 2/3 innings, allowing three hits, and his teammates provided errorless defense, but the Huskies just could not come through with key hits at the right time.

The Huskies finished 13-17, rebounding nicely after a 2-7 start, while Wilson is 14-9.
