If you've got a costume on and want to come bowling on Halloween, you can get a free game (if you pay for one). But, no masks please.
The people at PINZ Bowling Center in Studio City suggest that bowling with masks can simply be hazardous to your health. The special is 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. that night.
All week it was Spirit Week, where bowlers can come dressed in themes. (Tuesday is animals night!)
Over the weekend, the Junior League bowled in costumes (see some of the photos above), and held their annual costume parade.
"It's always a lot of fun to see the costumes, but of course they have to be comfortable if you're going to bowl in them," said PINZ bowling coach Barbara Lee.
There's more going on for Halloween day and night at PINZ, and beyond.
There are junior and senior citizen leagues, adult/junior competitions and other specials.
On Election Day, get a free game just for showing your "I voted" sticker. Also, on Sunday, Nov. 4 and Dec. 2 there's a Bowling Boot Camp for bowlers of every age and level for $15 at 9 a.m.
Some of the perfect games this year at PINZ with 12 strikes in a row, and a 300 score are:
James Knapp (twice),
And, of course, you'll likely see one of the local celebrities bowling there. Some of the stars who have parked their bowling balls in their private lockers include Justin Timberlake, Cameron Diaz, Jessica Alba and Laverne & Shirley stars Penny Marshall and Cindy Williams.
