Toluca Baseball Sends 3 All-Star teams to Super-Regional Tournaments

For the first time in Toluca Baseball’s history, three of the youth league’s all-star teams have advanced to the Super-Regional round of PONY Baseball’s all-star tournament.

“Our success this year is a testament to our volunteers, families and players, all of whom have bought into Toluca Baseball’s positive culture and player development goals,” said league president Tony Rolando.

Toluca’s 9u Titans will advance to the Super-Regional tournament on Saturday to compete against 15 other teams in Los Alamitos, including another Toluca 9u team, the Storm, whose only loss in last weekend’s regional tournament was 5-4 to the Titans. The top two teams from the Super-Regional tournament will represent Southern California advance to play the top two teams from Northern California’s Super-Regional tournament for the California Zone championship.

And not to be outdone, Toluca’s 8u Titans will be playing this weekend in Garden Grove in their age group’s Super-Regional tournament after finishing third in last weekend’s regional qualifier.

Each of these Toluca all-star teams has defeated teams representing some of the nation’s most accomplished Pony leagues. All of the players must reside within boundaries drawn up by Pony Baseball’s national decision makers, and most of Toluca’s players live in Burbank, Studio City, Toluca Lake and Hollywood.

“It is a thrill for our league to see these kids play hard and learn the spirit of teamwork,” said Rolando. “We are proud of our players and appreciative of the talented coaches who’ve all volunteered their time work with our kids.”

Serving 700 boys and girls each season between the ages of 4-14, Toluca Baseball is an all volunteer organization, established in 1952 and plays its league’s spring and fall season games at Weddington Park in Studio City. Log onto www.TolucaBaseball.com.
