Blog: Remembering Iraq - Tonight in Studio City

This Friday night and next the Studio City Peace Vigil is holding a special peace vigil to mark the tenth anniversary of the invasion of Iraq. 6:30 to 7:30pm

This Friday night and next we are having a special peace vigil to mark the tenth anniversary of the invasion of Iraq, the worst foreign policy disaster in American history.  (It was not a blunder, btw, rather a deliberate and willful act of aggression sold on lies.  Remember?  Liberating Iraq is going to be quick and cheap.  They can pay us back  for disarming Saddam with just a few months worth of liberated oil revenues.)

Join us, if you can, this evening or next:

6:30 to 7:30pm

NE corner, at the intersection of Ventura Blvd and Laurel Canyon Blvd.

Some of you may not even be aware there was a movement to stop the Iraq War during the lead up to the invasion and that opposition continued for years afterwards, in time regaining momentum to influence the debate at home as the truth about the occupation of Iraq became increasingly difficult for the administration and media collaborators to spin.In the pre-war period the opposition to toppling 'Saddam' was visible on thousands of street corners across America.  Right here in Studio City, CA, from the fall of '02 to March of '03 your neighbors who could see through the lies vigiled for peace every Friday night (and still do).  There were many marches and rallies in LA and across the country and as the drumbeat for war grew more incessant those protests spread around the globe.  In February of '03 six million people demonstrated worldwide against invading Iraq.

To put in slogan fashion, which we tend to do with those signs:

10 Years Ago the World said NO! to the Bush/Chaney drive for war.

THE WORLD WAS RIGHT!

The Neocons had it wrong.  They still do! ...

Don't Iraq Iran!

Join Us to continue that proud tradition:  NO MORE WAR!

Dear tbs, Deon Coles black box is the worst tv show ever. Though it is hosted by a black man, it'sRead More a show based on pointing fun and rude Racist jokes directed toward black people. If there was a white host it would be considered racist but because a black man was appointed to be host , you might have figured we wouldn't be offended but we are and I can't speak for all but I feel like resist jokes aren't ok regardless of who is telling them and I would like tbs to take down this show or atleast change the points in the show ! -signed, Kalil Stimpson
