CAP GUNS AND OLD TIME HEROES

Two days ago when I woke and turned on CNN as is my norm, I found it was another day of follow-up about "SOME KID KILLING ANOTHER PERSON IN SCHOOL".  The reporter made what I consider the dumbest statement I've ever heard and I quote; "THIS UNWARRANTED KILLING OF A TEACHER BY A 14 YEAR OLD BOY WITH A BOX KNIFE AND SIMILAR THINGS ARE BECOMING FAR TOO FREQUENT".

Now in my own personal opinion and also after having spent 5 years on the L.A.Co. Sheriff's Department as a deputy working out of the "Firestone Station" in south central L.A. "JUST ONE KID KILLING SOMEONE IS WAY TO FREQUENT".  I remember one when I was a deputy, where a kid came out of the projects, walked across Imperial and into a gas station where an old deaf mute was working.

(I was parked in the shadows waiting for a call back at a telephone booth at the end of the parking area and the boy did not see me) 

The boy lifted his shirt and shot the old man 5 times through the heart, and started to casually walk away.  I stopped him by pointing a 12 gauge shotgun at his head, and arrested him.  When I asked him why he said (and I remember the cold attitude to this day 39 years later) "I JUST FOUND THIS GUN AND WANTED TO SEE IF IT WORKED.  BESIDES THE OLD MAN COULDN'T TALK OR HEAR HE WAS WORTHLESS SO WHAT IS THE PROBLEM".

That attitude then and the similar attitudes of the kids today, only even more intense, are what caused me to write this article and place it on my website.
