Answering Questions About a Stone House and Stumps

A house on Klump and bothersome stumps are discussed this week.

Community activist Lisa Sarkin is answering questions about the history, government and problems in our area in this You Ask...Studio City Patch Answers column. Is the stone house located on Klump Avenue a landmark?—Jane C.

No.  It appears to be a facade, not a stone house. There are a few properties designated as historic in Studio City, but there are no historic preservation zones.

Stumped About Stumps

Dear Lisa,

A tree fell over five months ago here in NoHo. The city came and chopped it down, but left a stump along with five "City of LA" street signs. To this day, the stump and signs are still here. Does anyone have any experience with the city regarding how long it takes for the city to remove the stump? Or will they ever remove the stump? If not, why even put the street signs there?—Jean Jeunet

Although this tree stump is not in Studio City, I will let you know what we found out in Studio City.  For example, 10 stumps were on Tujunga Avenue for more than two years.

The Studio City Neighborhood Council Land Use Committee put together an advisory committee to drive all over Studio City gathering addresses with stumps. The addresses were reported to the Street Services Department. The stakeholders on the committee were persistent and finally the stumps were ground out.

You should contact Midtown North Hollywood Neighborhood Council and ask for assistance.  The street signs are there to protect the public.
