Do You Need Some Plants? Do You Like to Plant? Come Help with Patch's Give 5

If you need some mature tomato or strawberry plants, or if you want to help with a school community garden, then grab some gloves and a shovel and come on down to Valley View Elementary School on Wednesday morning as part of the Patch Give 5 program.

Anyone is welcome. There will also be some food provided by Martha Silva from Cactus Tacos in Studio City for the volunteers who stay to help till the soil.

If you need some plants, they are free. There are herbs, large plants and flowers. We will help you bag them, but there is no extra soil.

Come to the school at 6921 Woodrow Wilson Dr. (just off Mulholland Drive) between 10 a.m. and noon. First come, first served for the herbs and plants. Bring a shovel to help till the soil after. Children are welcome.

Give 5 is Patch's oldest tradition. One of Patch's founding principles was volunteerism and giving back to communities. Give 5 is our employee volunteer program and since 2009, thousands of Patchers have given thousands of hours of service at food banks, homeless shelters, schools, senior centers, and wherever the community needs them most.

At Studio City and Sherman Oaks Patches we have helped with local middle school and elementary schools as well as a local nursing home and civic groups over the past three years.

Come down to Valley View and you can start a little patch (green patch, that is) of your own.

For more information call Studio City Patch editor Mike Szymanski at (818) 233-1164.
