Ed Begley Jr. Plans to Move to Another Part of Studio City

This time, he's going environmental from the ground up.

Ed Begley Jr. plans to move. But, he's not moving far, and he will still be in Studio City—only about a mile away.

And, he plans to leave all his solar panels and groundwater recycling systems behind in his former house.

"Sure, I'll leave all the stuff behind, the solar panels, all that," Begley said in an interview with Patch.

His famously retrofitted environmentally-friendly house won't be on the market for about a year, and in the meantime, he plans to build another house from the ground up and be totally environmental about it every step of the way.

"I have shown what you can do to retrofit a house," Begley said. "I took a very inefficient house from 1936, and like most of the homes in the area, it had no insulation and certainly no concern for the environment, and I made it as energy efficient as possible."

Begley laughed, "I've taken as much of this old square peg and shoved it into as much of a round hole as I could."

He is excited about his new prospect, and so is his wife, Rachelle.

"I will show what I can do with new construction, and show how I can build house from the ground up that is environmentally safe," Begley said.

The Begley's have yet to sign a fourth season with Planet Green to continue their popular environmental show Living With Ed, but when the show kicks up again, they will feature the building of the new house.

Anyway, Patch.com will be invited out to chart the progress, too, Begley assured.
