Dirty Pools

What can be done about un-kept properties and dirty pools?—Barbara Valensky

Hi Barbara –

This is a very good question at this time with so many properties in disarray.  I suggest the following:  Call 211 (Los Angeles County’s information number) to report a dirty pool;  Call 311 (Los Angeles city’s information number) to report un-kept properties.  You will need the exact address for the property you are reporting.  Both the county and city need our assistance to keep up with all the violations, especially dirty pools which create a health hazard.

Parking in Tujunga Village

Hey Lisa,

Why is it that many of the businesses on Tujunga near Moorpark have been allowed to open and operate without the necessary compliance for parking spaces per business?

The businesses on Tujunga and Moorpark already had conditional use permits [CUP] going back to before most parking requirements were part of the municipal code.  Only when a use is changed, the CUP is brought up to current codes.

What's On the Bank?

What the heck are some of those figures in the mosaic on the old Home Savings (now Chase) bank building and what do they mean, I can’t tell what some of them are.—Craig Florenza

Dear Craig – I have been trying to find out the answer to your question but unfortunately, the current bank did not erect the mosaic.  I have always thought it was depicting early California residents and objects from that time period.

No Rangers at Woodbridge

Why aren't their regular Park Ranger patrols in Woodbridge Park?

Park Rangers are not part of the City of Los Angeles employee base, but patrol state and federal parks.  I do not believe there are any patrols, other than by the LAPD for city parks.  Some parks are staffed by city employees, but Woodbridge Park has no community buildings or staff, so the patrolling is up to the LAPD.
