Paws for Troops Fundraiser Marches to Success

Saturday's event offers many goods and services for sale in support of efforts to provide companion dogs for veterans.

A fundraiser was held Saturday for a group that aims to help returning members of the military and rescued animals through mutually beneficial activities.

The fundraiser, held at Church of the Chimes in Sherman Oaks, was a successful venture, though participants had hoped for bigger crowds. By the early afternoon, many rummage-sale items, baked goods, plants and donated services—including dog grooming and human beauty treatments—had been purchased.

Pets were adopted, visitors asked lots of questions and donations were raised for Paws for Troops, founded by Dee Baldus, which aims to provide companion dogs for veterans who may be suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.
