Wine Tasting Event Fundraises for Youth Program

The Peacock Foundation hosts their sixth annual fundraiser

Through drama, art and animals, the The Peacock Foundation helps heal traumatized youth, and now the sixth annual Spread the News Wine Tasting Event is being launched locally on Saturday, Sept. 25 to raise money for their programs.

Hosted by the non-profit organization dedicated to empowering traumatized youth, the wine event is being held at the CBS Studio Center.

Using animal therapy, a therapeutic method that has been around since the 1960s, the foundation aims at easing the transition from pain to healing, regardless of the child's traumatic experience.  Using the unique method, The Peacock Foundation, based in North Hollywood, guides the child through the process of acknowledging their trauma, as well as providing a safe way to express their emotions.  Once comfortable with that, they are taught skills beneficial to navigating their life.

In 1987 at the age of 9, Lisa Peacock went through a traumatic loss herself when she lost her father in a plane crash.  10 years later at 19, her mother died in a car accident.  As a result of the loss of the two most important people in her life, Peacock experienced years of debilitating guilt, depression, anger and anxiety.  It was then that she decided to do something to help others who were going through the same thing and in 2002, Peacock started the foundation.

The Spread the News fundraiser will be offering up a wide selection of palate pleasing wine, as well as music provided by Josef Gordon and Matt Shockley.
