Water LA - Studio City - Final Workshop - Edible Landscapes, Rain Barrels, & Rain Chains

The River Project had so much to be thankful for this Thanksgiving!

Our Water LA program of urban acupuncture in Panorama City & Studio City not only blessed us with 36 amazing homeowners (and 120 projects!), committed to Capture, Conserve, Reuse but has brought Angelenos from across the City to our hands-on workshops.

Our successful Summer Film Series on WATER at CBS Studios was graced with all-star discussion panels that included a special visit from Vandana Shiva.

The Room for the River symposium we helped organize in May with partners from the Netherlands and the City of LA produced a sound vision for making Los Angeles climate-resilient for the 21st century.

The Woodman Avenue Median Retrofit (from our 2008 Tujunga-Pacoima Watershed Plan) we've been working on with our partners at LADWP is set to be complete by the end of the year. When it’s done, it will increase local water supplies and beautify the neighborhood.

We’re working with Pacoima Beautiful & our partners at Urban Applications to develop an interpretive element for the project and are busy recruiting volunteers and stewards to help us monitor the ¾ miles of habitat the project will create [inquire within].

We are most grateful for our funders at the Coastal Conservancy & the LADWP, our partners in the City of LA, and our non-profit partners (LA Beautification TeamNorth East TreesSeed Library of Los AngelesSurfriderHeal the Bay) and the green entrepreneurs (Greywater CorpsHey Tanks LA!) working with us to take Water LA city-wide.

So if you haven't had a chance to check out our work come on by this SATURDAY, DECEMBER 7th, 1-m-4pm.
David King of the Seed Library of Los Angeles and Scott Mathers of HeyTanksLA! will be showing us how to plant an Edible Landscape & install Rain Barrels & Rain Chains.
