Bridges Academy

Bridges Academy is a college preparatory school for children who are gifted and those who have learning disabilities andMore difficulties. The school teaches students from fifth through 12th grade and offers regular, honors and AP courses. The curriculum is composed of math, English, science, history, physical education, technology, foreign language, visual arts, drama and film study classes. Class sizes are kept small (the average class size is eight students) to enhance the learning of each child.
Walter Reed Middle School

Walter Reed is known for its award-winning chorus and band as well as its high academic achievements and IHPMore (Individualized Honors Program). It has a new Culinary Academy and Environmental Sciences area of study as well as Humanities and Technology Academies.</p> <p>The school has the longest-running continuous program for highly gifted students in the Los Angeles Unified School District and includes studies in Latin, logic and creative analysis. It is also one of a handful of middle schools with a Cadet program.</p> <p>The ornate front and large grassy lawn in front of the school makes it a prime filming location, which adds to the school coffers. TV shows such as <i>Malcolm in the Middl</i>e, <i>Head of the Class</i> and <i>The West Wing</i>, and movies like <i>Accepted, Transformers </i>and <i>The Shaggy Dog </i>were shot there<i>.</i> During the last presidential campaign, the school made international news when it was featured in a speech by John McCain and confused with the Walter Reed Medical Center. Principal Donna Tobin had to issue a release stating that she didn't give permission to the Republicans to use the school in their promotional material.</p> <p>The school is part of District 2 and feeds mostly to North Hollywood High School. Its mascot is the Wolves and the colors are navy blue and gray.</p> <p>John Ritter, Adam Carolla and Rachel Bilson went to school here.</p>
