We agreed to foster a puppy awhile back and as we fell in love with the kid (we kept him) and met other Pitbulls and…More their owners, we realized this was a true calling. We are thoroughly dedicated to promoting the Pitbull as a breed, by helping to place these terribly misunderstood dogs into good homes.

As a Pitbull-only rescue, it is especially important that we know as much as we can about a potential adopter as before they meet a dog. Its equally important that they know the breed and understand the special needs and understanding required for Pitbull owners. We have a thorough Adoption Application, no fee is required to fill one out. It is designed to make absolutely sure that a potential owner has a home that will safe for their Pitbull and a lifestyle that will help them to flourish. With an accepted Application, we set up a meeting so that our AnnRo dog can meet the potential adopter and also to introduce them to any additional dogs or cats the adopter might have. The final step is a Home Check.

THE RESCUE TRAlN is a unique, 501(c)(3) non- profit, no-kill organization dedicated to…More eliminating animal suffering and euthanasia through hands-on rescue work, education and awareness.

How We Started

As a child I never said, "When I grow up I want to run an animal rescue." So how did I end up dedicating my adult life to saving dogs and cats from euthanasia, and placing them into loving homes? It started when I visited a Los Angeles city animal shelter. A shelter worker informed me that a large number of adoptable dogs and cats were euthanized every week because they had too many animals and not enough homes. I remember standing in the loud, overcrowded kennel looking into all the dogs' scared eyes and my heart just broke. Their faces haunted me and I could not turn my back on them.

By the year 2000 I was running a small animal rescue. Every day I would get phone calls from Good Samaritans who had found lost or stray animals. Little did I know that one day when I picked up the phone and heard a voice on the end of the line say "Hi, this is Delilah Loud" that my life was forever changed. Not only did Delilah find two animals that needed help but she also offered TO help. That's the day The Rescue Train rolled onto the tracks. She became my partner in rescue and friend for life.

Who We Are Today

Delilah and I used our strengths to build The Rescue Train into a unique, non-profit 501(c) 3, no kill organization supported by hundreds of creative and dedicated volunteers. Together it is our mission to reduce the number of animals entering shelters by doing hands-on rescue work and creating unique programs and solutions; including our highly successful "Trained for Life" program where shelters dogs are completely obedience trained prior to adoption, and our annual "Race for the Rescues" which funds and supports many other important animal welfare organizations. Our organization is committed to educating our community about responsible pet ownership and the importance of spaying and neutering.

Why We Do It

We do it because pet overpopulation is a national crisis that affects our communities and our hearts. Each year millions of adoptable animals are killed in the United States. How we live with animals is a reflection of our country as a whole. .. "The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated." Ghandi.

How We Do It

We do it with love, sacrifice and the knowledge that in a sophisticated and affluent city such as Los Angeles, with so many animal lovers, there is no need for this great amount of suffering these animals face each day.

Our Wish

As rescuers we know that every time we save an animal there is the possibility that it can make a profound impact on one person's life. We dream of a day when our services won't be needed, where there is a loving home waiting for every dog and cat in the world.

Join Our Army

We believe that not only in our own "City of Angels," but across the country, there is an army of animal lovers. We are run 100% on your tax deductible donations and can only continue to do this life saving work with your help. Your volunteer work, your compassion and your open hearts keep this train full speed ahead!
