First Vegan Ice Cream Parlor in Los Angeles Closes in Studio City

Kind Kreme, which was located in the mini-mall where Good Neighbor Diner is located on Ventura Boulevard, is closed.

It was the first all-vegan ice cream parlor to open in Los Angeles in May 2010 and was a specialty gourmet ice cream shop that features hand-crafted raw ice cream, all of which are dairy-free and soy-free.

On their website, they write:

"While we don’t have plans to open another one in this area anytime soon, we do have locations in Pasadena, Echo Park and coming soon to Culver City.

"We are so, so grateful for everyone who has made this community -  for the people who came once in a while, to the people who came every day. We know you, we love you and we couldn’t have made it this far without your support.

"This location is not closing for a lack of love, but rather because as we’ve grown our understanding of what business model works best for this product has changed. Going forward, future KindKremes will be contained inside of a restaurant like Sage in Echo Park or our Sage Farm Plant Based Bistro & Beer Garden in Culver City. That way we can continue to bring you the same high quality, high integrity product without raising the price point beyond the bounds of what people are willing and able to pay."

Most flavors are vegan except for several which contains honey. The shop was started by three friends who also took turns scooping out the dishes, and two lived in Studio City.

Patch will let you know what's going in at the location
