Tonight: Major Meeting Involving Medical Marijuana Shops in Studio City

If you're concerned about the pot shops in the area, if you want to know more about what is going on, this is the meeting to be at tonight! Everyone is welcome. Here from all sides of the issue.

Lisa Sarkin, chairperson of the Studio City Neighborhood Council Land Use Committee, sent out personal invitations to all the Medical Marijuana Distributors in the Studio City area (13 in all), to invite the owners to a meeting on Wednesday night where the City Attorney's office will explain how they will all be affected by the new law.

Sarkin wrote:

"While we understand our area still finds itself in difficult times, you own the property where a medical marijuana business (MMB) is located or run the MMB at a location within Studio City.

Currently, there are 12 operating MMBs within three miles of each other.  Some are on the approved list from 2007, but most are not.  Some are not even in Studio City, but list themselves in Studio City."

Studio City Patch tried multiple times to interview the manager of a new shop, Studio Pharms at 12427 Ventura Blvd., but was unsuccessful. Patch has tried to keep a tally of the shops that are listed in the area, and at one point there were 19, mostly along Ventura Boulevard.

There will be a question and answer session about the passage of Measure D by the city and a chance for public comment.
