Adopt a Senior Enters Third Year

The collaboration between Sherman Oaks/East Valley Adult Center and the Studio City Chamber of Commerce helps provide holiday gifts to low income seniors.

The Studio City Chamber of Commerce and the Sherman Oaks/East Valley Adult Center is partnered for the third year of Adopt a Senior, aiming to pair people with buying a gift for a senior who uses the center.

Yolanda Ramirez, office manager at the center, tells Patch that anyone who's interested in buying a gift for a senior of $25 or more, whether it's a gift card or a gift they've requested, should get in touch. The center has a list of needy seniors.

"Anyone in the community can participate," she said.

These are low income seniors who are looking for gifts like pajamas, a heater, shoes, a blanket or something of their choice. Last year, Ramirez said someone received a television. Some gifts are gift cards for groceries.

"These are things they cannot afford," Ramirez added.

For more information, call the center at 818-981-1284 or the chamber at 818-769-3213.
